March Honeymoon to Hawaii

We live in Miami and will be going to Hawaii on our honeymoon this march for two weeks.

4 Days in Oahu - Kahala Mandarin Oriental

4 Days in Kauai - Princeville Resort

5 Days in Maui - Kea Lani Resort

We want to have alot of fun - Experience the scenery, BEACHES, waterfalls, sunsets, snorkel, etc. - and alot of relaxation. Any advice or answers to any of these questions will be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone stayed at any of these hotels? Good, Bad?

How is the weather/beach conditions in March?

Are there any "MUST go to" restaraunts?

Which are the best Beaches?

Any good snorkel Spots?

Which island would be best to go to a Luau? Which one?

Which island would be best to go on a Helicopter tour? Which one?

On Oahu we want to travel the winward coast and north shore stopping along the way, chinatown, Arizona memorial. Are these good choices? What else should we do on Oahu?

On Kauai we would like to hike the Na Pali Coast is this fun, hard, impossible?

On Maui would like to do the road to Hana all the way around the north and coming around ending in the south. Is the south road as bad as they make it sound? Should I have a 4-wheel drive or convertible?

How is the Sunrise and Bike ride down Halakeala (sorry if I spelled it wrong)? Is it OK if we are not avid bike rides?

Any other ideas or things that we MUST do as vacationers or honeymooners please let us know!!! Thanks in advance!

For info on Kauai you should buy The Ultimate Guide to Kauai. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. From what I hear there is a luau on Maui that is the best in Hawaii, Old something, do a search on this forum.

Not to be flip, but dozens of answers to most every one of your questions have been posted here just in recent months alone (many times more than that over the past 4 years).
Have you read anything from the archives here, via the text search box?

Your hotel choices are excellent.
That's a start, anyway.
Best wishes for your honeymoon.

We went to Maui on our honeymoon and loved it. Some days were a little cool but we swam and snorkeled. We didn't do the bike trip but instead drove up to the crater ourselves. It is a beautiful, fascinating place. I would also recommend a whale watching tour. The whales are there then.

You picked three good ones. Went to Hawaii on my honeymoon three years ago and went back on our first anniversary. We did not go to Oahu but plan to go next visit and stay at Kahala Mandarin. Let me know how it is. The Princeville resort is very nice on the North Shore. We stayed at the Hanalai Bay next store which was not as upscale. The Princeville is a very pretty hotel. Try there Friday Night Seafood Buffet. We stayed at the Kea Lani and liked it very much. The rooms are all suites.

The beach at the Princeville is just ok. But the North Shore has some beautiful beaches just a short drive away. We did the helicopter ride in Kaui which was fun. Kea Beach which is close to the Princeville Resort has good snorkeling. Also go to Hanalai which is a great little shopping town. We liked the Beach House in Kauai it is at the south shore which is a bit of a drive. There is a great restaurant right at the Kea Lani and Also Joes which was at a tennis club. Have a wonderful time and let me know how your trip was.

A couple of other comments. The north shore of all the islands in March will be cooler and potentially a bit wetter but you will be in Hawaii. The waves in winter are very rough and swimming not good in north. Princeville is beautiful but March is a wet month. If you want to go to the beach take a day trip to Poipu. Another good restaurant on Kauai is A Pacific Cafe, in a strip mall half way to Lihue. Definatly do the Helicopter on Kauai.
On Oahu, Arizona Memorial, North Shore- Banzai Pipeline- awesome waves in winter, relax.
Maui, our favorite island has the most to do and all the things you mentioned are worth it. Restaurants- Nick's at the Grand Wailea( Connected to the one at THe Boca Resort & Golf Club), Joe's, Roy's on any of the islands, Hailemaile General Store- run by wife of Joe from Joe's, she's the culinary wiz in the family.
A fun trip is thew Trilogy trip to Lanai. All the beaches along the WAilea area are great especially Makena Beach..
Check out La Perrouse Bay on Maui.
Someone mentioned the Kauai Book, same people did one for Maui as well. Any other questions email.

Aloha from NJ

Since you are from Miami, let me warn you that the water will be colder than you expect - the first time I walked into the water of Waikiki Beach I was shocked that it was in the mid to low 70's. I guess I expected the low '80s like Florida in the summer!
