There are some places RIGHT on the sand as well as right above the basalt.
Lots of options out there.
I think it's one of the most amazing places.
It has fantastic restaurants as well.

Don't you mean follow the 804 trail north from the Overleaf, seikaway? I'm guessing it's between 1/4 and 1/2 mile to the sandy beach. In front of the Overleaf, at low tides during the summer months, there are usually small pockets of sandy beach between the hugh basalt boulders. Enough at least for your toddler to build a sand castle.

Phew! I go away for a day and you totally respond! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've now done some research on vrbo for both Yachats and Newport...we'll see which one pans out.

I just wanted to update. After being *this close* to booking a house in Yachats our friends decided to offer up a relative's place in coastal CA for our trip. So I won't have an update about Yachats...until next year.
