If you're looking for hotel from which to watch the parade, you can probably forget about it. There really aren't any hotels right on the parade route. However, there are certainly many hotels with a short walking distance of the parade route, which ends up at Macy's on West 34th/35th Streets.

Hi Art:
Apologizes to Howard, however, there are several hotels along the parade route. However, the choice rooms which are those facing the street are usually book a year in advance. Of course, there are plenty of hotels in NY, you are probably better off staying at a hotel not near the route, and just getting up EARLY and staking out a spot along the route. Another fun thing to do is to go to Central Park West and 77th street the night before and watch the Macy's folks blow up the balloons.
Have fun, the parade is a great time.

Ooops, sorry. Lori is right. I meant to say "many" not "any" in reference to hotels. Lori is right about them being booked early. (Also, the price at these hotels is high, I believe.) Lori is right. You're probably better off booking a nearby hotel and walking to the parade. Part of the experience is being part of the crowd, anyway.

We went to the parade a few years ago and stayed at the Wentworth Hotel. It was very reasonable in price and two blocks from times square which is where we watched the parade. Couple of tips, be sure to bring warm clothes, hats especially. The Wentworth is near a great little Italian restaurant too which we thoroughly enjoyed. We thought it would be fun to watch the balloons being blown up. They are done near Central Park. It was was so crowded, claustrophobic crowded, I was very fearful I would become detached from my kids and lose them. I recommend you skip that. We got real close to the parade though and loved it.
