Mackinac Island Lodging Advice
Can't decide between the Island House or Mission Point Resort. Both seem beautiful. Island House - no pool, smaller, 600 more for room with balcony view
mission point - pool, bigger resort, about 600 less for total of our stay. It's my birthday so I want it to be special,. We also live in California so this type of setting is very different for us. I love the historic charm. Any advice is appreciated- we will be there end of July.
Thanks

We stayed at Island House (Harbor View Suite) and loved our experience (historic charm and cozy atmosphere.). Our room did not have a balcony; we took advantage of the rocking chairs on the porch instead. Island House does have an indoor pool and a hot tub. We had dinner one evening at Mission Point; and to be honest, we both felt the resort gave off "conference center" vibes.

Thank you so much for answering! Settled...my husband felt the island house looked nicer as well. Did you eat at the restaurant there? We are in California and years ago I saw a picture of the Grand Hotel. Ive wanted to go to Mackinac ever since!
Thanks again

We also ate at the 1852 Grill Room, yes. According to my notes both DH and I very much enjoyed our Whitefish and Walleye entrees. DH enjoyed his Hot Fudge Sundae; I did not have dessert. I grew up in Michigan and whenever I'm back I make an effort to eat lake fish, be it Perch or Walleye.
