Luxor or Monte Carlo

We will be going to LV with two sons, ages 11 and 14. I think I have the hotels narrowed down between the Luxor and Monte Carlo. Can you tell me the pros and cons of each?
Thanks.

WE have loved the Monte Carlo with our two sons 16 & 18. It has a few benefits over the Luxor. The location is more central. They have a wave pool in their great pool area. They have a food court which our kids liked. It gave them more independence and food they liked. The huge Gameworks place is across the street. Our sons did some rock climbing there last trip. You can catch a free shuttle to the Rio at the corner. The boys also caught the Lance Burton magic show at the Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo was not full of LITTLE kids like some casinos. Also, your sons can eat dinner with you in the great brewery at the Monte Carlo. They also enjoyed the live band. I have been in the Luxor, while stunning on the outside, it is deceiving. The Monte Carlo is light, airy, new, and a wonderful family place. It's a hit with us.

Hi! I'm interested in more responses to this question as these are the exact 2 hotels I'm deciding between! Any more input (we also have teenagers) would be very welcome. Thanks!

Hi Jane

I stayed at the Luxor last year. I LOVED the hotel. It's really nice. The rooms are beautiful. We had a room in the towers. I heard these rooms are bigger than the pyramid. This year we stayed at NY NY. This is nice too. I like the location of NY NY better than the Luxor. Although the Luxor isn't as crowded as NY NY. We visited Monte Carlo it's next to NY NY. This is a Beautiful hotel too. They do have a large eatery area that would be good for the kids. The location is more central than Luxor. Luxor is on the end of the strip. I'd vote either one would be a good choice.
Have Fun!!
P.S. I did hear from other people that the walls can be very thin at the Monte Carlo if ya know what I mean.

SEveral friends and I stayed at the Monte Carlo last month -- my first trip to Las Vegas -- and loved the hotel. In response to the previous poster, I commented on how it was one of the quietest hotels I've stayed at, and the rooms/public areas were lovely. I think my teen son would have enjoyed it, esp. the pool & food court, but I didn't see Luxor so I can't compare the two.

Sorry to disagree w/a previous poster, but I think the LUXOR is Low End (to put it nicely)...the Monte Carlo is a very nice place, but you might also want to consider the NY NY..same price range and a lot of fun and activities for a family. Just don't get a room near the roller coaster. Good Luck...

Hi Jane!

We have been to LV many times and would not recommend the Luxor if you have teens who will probably be on their own a lot! The Luxor is Way down at the end of the strip and while it does have a walkway to Mandalay Bay, it does not have access to anything else! As an adult it was worth the bargain price because we took cabs wherever we wanted to go, but for teens the more centrally located you are the more fun they will have!

As far as the pool at the Luxor, it is nice but very low key for teens. No wave pools or anything even similar.

The food court is minimal, at best, and the upstairs entertainment area is less than thrilling. We are only in our late twenties so we're still looking for the action too!

Hope this information helps. Just my humble opinion, as they say on the Net.

Have fun!!
