Looking for the right resort or home

Hello everyone,
We've never been to Hawaii before and was wondering what resorts (or rental homes or condo's) have the best beaches for us. We're looking for a place that has a nice beach that is in a cove so it is safe for little ones. We don't want to be at the busy beaches so please don't list something at Waikiki. We've had some nice beaches in the Caribbean with a cove and wanted to find something similar in Hawaii. Appreciate all responses

FYI, a cove is a section of beach protected by rocks and the rocks prevent any waves from getting in there. Makes the water calmer for the little ones. Thanks to any that can help

Mel... you should check out Napili Bay on the west side of Maui - there are lots of condo complexes that line Napili Bay, very nice! Kapalua Bay on the west side is also very nice, but Napili might be better for little ones. My question for you is the nice 'cove' you found in the caribbean? We have been to Hawaii 2x and that is my first love, but I wanted to try the caribbean - shorter flight - and am having trouble finding anything that even compares to Hawaii (lush green, nice accommodations at reasonable price, very relaxed culture - safe) - what island and where did you stay in caribbean?

Thanks.

Hi Jen
We have traveled with our two daughters to either the Mexican Coast or the Caribbean for the past 10 years. We are going to hawaii in April(can't wait) have been there before, however there are many resorts that are wonderful in the Caribbean. You must remember though that most are third world countries and the surrounding are much different than in the states. Some of the islands we have been to are Dominican Republic (twice), Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Antiqua, Jamica and in Mexico we were in Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Ixtapa Email me with any questions and I can tell you resort names and the pros and cons. One thing I can say is the swimming in the Caribbean is wonderful at all, clear blue water not as dangerous as Hawaii.

Jen, the British Virgin Islands may be what you are looking for. See the Caribbean forum for more info.
