Looking for somewhere new to eat in Napa area

My DH and I are making our annual sojourn to the Napa area in July. We will be there 3 nights and are burned out on just about everywhere well known except our favorite Foothill Cafe. Sadly, they are closed on Monday and Tuesday, which are 2 or our 3 nights there. We usually go there for 2 dinners.

We are not really fond of expensive meals. We like to stay in the $100.00 range for dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine.

Ruling out the ususal Mustards, Rutherford Grill, Piatti, is there anything new and on the casual side like Foothill Cafe we should be trying?

Thanks, Lynnie

Not exactly what you are asking for, but I love stopping at the Oakville Grocery to pick up things for a picnic. Maybe a private picnic somewhere especially scenic?

It is not new, but we enjoyed Bistro Don Giovanni just outside of Napa.

Have a nice weekend.

Not sure how new it is, but we recently returned from Napa. We enjoyed the Fume Bistro which is located just off Rt. 29 in Napa. The food and service were both excellent.

Hi LynnieD, if you got to www.sfgate.com (the online edition of the SF Chronical) and click on food & wine (lefthand side of the screen) and then at the top of the next screen type in Napa under destinations you will find a long list of restaurants in Napa. This might help you find something new. Have a wonderful trip.

Hi LynnieD:
Here are some my local faves:
Zuzu-tapas,etc
Celadon-Med/Asian fusion
Cafe Society -Paris bistro,prix fix at dinner
Cole's Chop House
You'll find these along Main St. in the revitalized downtown area of Napa.

If you want to venture up to St. Helena
Market and
Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen are my suggestions,
Press is new
but their entree's are $30+.

Happy Dining !

I can recommend Cole's Chop House as well, but dinner for two is likely to run $150+ including wine (before tip). As a big fan of steakhouses, I would put Cole's a slight step below Morton's in overall quality, yet surprisingly it is as expensive or more expensive than Morton's.

I can second some of the previous recommendations -
Celadon and Zuzu are two of my favorites;
Fume Bistro is a great local's type place - friendly and good food;
Cole's has great cocktails and appetizers on the menu, but is a bit spendy;
And I'm partial to Market in Saint Helena for lunch or dinner.
Have a great time in the Valley!

THanks for all of the suggestions. I have made a reservation at Brix, since we've driven by it 100 times and never gone in.

I've had lunch at Cindy's and really liked it. Maybe we should try it for dinner. We are staying at La Bonita and could walk.

Also, does anyone know the name of the little Italian place in St. Helena? I recall the winemaker from Hans Fahden (where we got married 7 years ago) saying it was a favorite of his.

Thanks, Lynnie
