Looking for restaurant open for Christmas breakfast in Chicago
My husband and I will be visiting our daugter for Christmas in Chicago from Saturday morning until Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately we have to depart on Christmas Day (we both work the day after Christmas and must be home by Tuesday night)
We are looking for a place to have a fab Christmas breakfast or brunch before leaving. We are cooking a dinner for Christmas Eve, but would like to go out on Christmas day. IS ANYTHING OPEN!??!! Sorry to shout, but we are having a hard time. I assumed that several restaurants or hotels would serve special Christmas meals, but maybe I'm wrong as I haven't found any yet. Pleas help!

Ummm - Chicago is a big place. What area are you staying in or driving through to get to the airport?
Almost every downtown hotel would have something open for their guests. You might try Prairie, in the Printers Row Hyatt, a lovely place with very good food.

Our daughter lives just off Sheffield, near Depaul University. We are not leaving until late thursday afternoon and will be departing from O'Hare. The breakfast does not have to be "on the way" to the airport. we actually prefer something downtown or in the Michigan Avenue area. Does any know if the restaurant at the top of the Hancock buiilding will be open for breakfast? What hotels downtown do you suggest, the Drake?, others? Thanks again for your help.

Well, I'm glad to see we are not the only ones who dislike cooking and enjoy eating out on christmas! I got htis info from metromix.com I was searching for a place for Christmas dinner myself, but here are the options for brunch:
Penninsula Hotel - brunch all day ,$69/person
Hotel-Intercontinental - brunch till 3p.m., $45/person
Ann Sather - a little Swedish bakery will be open with regular menu at Belmont location
Ritz-Carlton Hotel - brunch in the dining room $75/person and in the Greenhouse restaurant $55/person
Any of htese would probably be yummy!
