Looking for lodging in Seattle for a few weeks

I've thought to check craigslist, but other suggestions? Looking for a lodging for a few weeks (so something cheaper than a hotel). Prefer a walkable area. Thanks for any suggestions!

VRBO.com is another resource, or if you prefer to deal with a rental agency, try Sea to Sky Rentals.

When I moved to Seattle in October 2007, my employer put me up at an Oakwood Suites. It is definitely cheaper than a hotel, and very basic. Full kitchen and living room, and a queen sized bed in the bedroom (though they also have studios). Washer and dryer, too. Mine was the Oakwood Seattle in lower Queen Anne and on the verge of Belltown. Great new Safeway about 3 blocks away, and an even nicer grocery store (Metropolitan Market) beyond that. Lots of little restaurants in the area. Very close to Seattle Center (where the Space Needle is).

I walked from Oakwood to the Market, but it's a long walk (of almost a mile). Belltown is also very close, and there are a ton of good restaurants and bars in Belltown.

Along with your stay, you get a complimentary membership at the gym next door. The gym was a little older, but I liked it - plenty of machines, and some good cardio and yoga classes.

Forgot to mention...it's really convenient to bus stops, too. So you don't have to walk a mile to the Pike Place Market - you can take a bus.

you may want to look at www.couchsurfing.com

if you are interested in meeting new people while traveling inexpensively, it is a great system.
