Ann Arbor, Michigan is a sure winner! Best four years of my life. It is one of the best public universities in the country and is such a wonderful town itself. Lots of restaurants, very politcally active, and a vibrant campus. There's always something to do. If you want the best combination of sports and academics, you have to choose the University of Michigan! Goooo Blue!

Granville, Ohio - Denison University. If you have ever been there, it looks exactly like what Hollywood would conjure up for a college town on a movie set. Great place, great graduates (Steve Carell, Michael Eisner, Jennifer Garner, John Davidson)

Oberlin is no place for a business major!
Ohio is chock full of great college towns. Do you want a small liberal arts college or a large university?
On the smaller side, Dennison, Ohio Wesleyan or Dayton have very beautiful campuses. On the larger side Miami of Ohio is very beautiful and in a wonderful small town and has a very good business school. Miami is also very popular with out of state students.

While there are many "rankings" of colleges/univiersities which would list all types of comparable information, a visit to the campus is a must before a final decision. For Big 10 Universities, U of MI (Ann Arbor, MI) and U of WI (Madison, WI) offer similar campus life with highly rated academics, great football games, and cities that offer the cultural of the university plus many other events. Both universities offer highly regarded business schools. If the midwest winter weather isn't to his liking, U of VA (Charlottesville) has the academics and city life with a much smaller enmphasis on football games plus wonderful weather all year. Another consideration may be the cost of out of state tuition if finances are an issue. I won't join the debate on the value of the investment in education, but in reality, unfortunately finances often play a major part in the decision making.

I would disagree with the "city life" reference. Charlottesville is definitely a college town with a population of about 45,000. And while their team stinks, they do emphasize football to a decent extent. It's also a very non-diverse community.

stepson was being recruited to play baseball at Denison. The coach offered to fly him in - stepson does not want to play baseball in college so respectfully declined (after dh and I said that it would be 100% wrong to take the trip with NO intention of going there at ALL).
