Looking for a good spot for a family reunion
Our family is planning a get-together/reunion, probably to take place in early summer. We are looking for a good spot to accommodate about 8 family units of varying ages. We are open to unique ideas as well as the more traditional. We would just like to find a place where we can relax, have fun and, most of all, just enjoy being together. Has anyone out there had a good experience they can share? Thank you!

Jennifer,
You don't say where you're from, so I don't know if one part of the country is better than another.
Although I've never been there, I've heard rave reviews from friends who have had family reunions at Woodloch Pines in Hawley, Pennsylvania. You can look at their site at www.woodloch.com.

We went to the Outer Banks and found two large rental houses next to each other.
It was a great time. We use Sun Realty www.sunrealtync.com/. They have some places that can accommodate 25 or more people. Prices were very reasonable

i second the woodloch pines rec.
i am a proponent of resort reunions vs. rental houses, b/c in my family all the women are the cooks, so we'd spend part of the reunion planning, shopping and cooking for the meals. that gets old, so we preferred the meal plan availability.
we stayed in the houses at woodloch springs, in their golf community, which was nice, since it gave us lots more room than a hotel room or suite, but we still had meals in the dining room.

I personally love the Outer Banks! Of course, we go for the oceanfront, private pool, one bathroom for every family homes. Depending on where you stay, you can go out for every, some, or no meals. For a crowd that size, one person could spearhead dinner each night and not have to worry about it again for the rest of the week. That's what we do.
The following website lists all/most of the OuterBanks realty offices, (including Sun Realty) from Hattaras to north of Corolla.

Why don't you give people more information ?
Is your family scattered all over the country? That would lead to suggestions about somewhere in the middle near a large airport.
Do you want a resort?
Do you want just a large hotel?
Do you need to be in very close proximity for the entire stay?
Do you want a condo development?
Are you looking for just (long) weekend accommodations?
Someplace to spend an entire week?
"Varying ages" -- meaning from infants to seniors requiring handicapped access facilities?
Have you considered a cruise?
