long term parking

A friend just told me that she and her husband rent a car for the 45 minute drive to the airport, just a one-way rental and get home the same way. It is cheaper than long term parking at Boston's Logan. We have stayed in a hotel convenient to Logan which offerred free parking during our trip. They preferred that you were only gone 1 week. We were gone 10 days and the parking lot was very secure. You might call hotels within a 30 minute drive of Dulles and see what their policies are. There are Boston hotels that advertise this service. The hotel shuttle makes frequent trips to the airport. Airport parking can be very expensive, I would also check into limo services.

Hi, Dick -- I have the same question, but Donna's response won't help, since I have to drive several hours to and from Dulles for my flight. I'd also like to know what the garage situation is, and whether there are remote (perhaps non-airport affiliated) lots that will shuttle you to the terminal. I've also heard that some people arrange with the Holiday Inn nearby to leave their cars, but it may be only for guests.
