Lonely beach for wife's 50th b-day
To celebrate her 50th birthday, my wife would like a week on a secluded island beach. We depart from MSP with a total air and resort budget of $2,000. Wheels down by March 26. Is this doable? Suggestions?

fred,
You may want to try posting this on the caribbean board for island info. I am not sure what airport MSP is, but 2000 is not much to fly to the caribbean (for seclusion). You might want to look at Florida beaches. They may be more reasonable. I personally like the gulf coast.

Fred just checked Outrigger Hotels in Hawaii and Oahu would fit in your budget. Another option is look at vrbo for condo rentals some on the north shore are close to less crowded beaches. The Turtle Bay area is nice also check their website.

How about one of the Georgia Isles? It is possible to find quiet stretches on Little St. Simons and Cumberland. The resort on Cumberland, Greyfield Inn, will be a bit pricey. Check it out. http://www.nps.gov/cuis/

Forgot to say the condos in Turtle Bay you can find several under 150 a night. Temps on the north shore maybe a little cooler than Honolulu but should still be upper 70's to low 80's. If you were including food in your budget may have to make it 5 days instead of 6.
