Just have her go into the corner convenience shop or a shop in most any tube station.

There are many different calling card plans and which is "best" will vary. But none of them will cost more than a few cents a minute. I've used several different brands - and all were about the same. Much cheaper than the cards you can get at Costco/Sam's Club in the States.

(BTW - This would get more response if posted over on the Europe forum)

The OP was asking about a card to call London FROM the US. I highly recommend zaptel.com. We use the card called "Flying Colors" - used it when my son was in the Dominican Republic for a semester and again now that he is living in Uganda for a year. Each call is 17 cents per minute, and the call quality is very good. Also, all the information about your account is available to you online.

Oh, and I recommended it to someone else who used it when her daughter was in Brazil.

Oh sheesh - completely missed the US TO London bit. Sorry.

for what you want I would not use ANY calling card. I'd just us a 1010 number. Which one is best for you depends partly on which phone company you are w/.

I use 1010-987, but there are several others. Do a google for 1010 numbers and you can find out which you should use for the best rates.

Also, if your daughter has a laptop and high-speed internet while in London, you can both download Skype and talk for free. It's easy as pie.
