Lodging in South Lake Tahoe
We are traveling to South Lake Tahoe (California side) in early August for a family wedding. The accommodations seems to be pretty pricey. We are looking for a hotel room with two queen beds for a family of four in the $80-$120 range. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Since your going for a family wedding, I'm assuming there will be other family there as well. Consider bunking together and renting a cabin! You could get a six bedroom place, share the expense, and probably spend less than you would collectively at a hotel. There are thousands of place for rent (especially on the California side).

I agree with last post. I've rented homes on a few different vacations, including Lake Tahoe, and it ends up really being a great deal. There are many ways to find them, but one site I like is www.vrbo.com (it stands for vacation rentals by owner). Hope that helps.

I was in Lake Tahoe October 99. I was to surprise to find a ton of motels within walking distance of the casinos and the lake. They all looked somewhat alike. We stayed in one for $50. If your a AAA member get the book for California and it will show many of them. The motel was ok - clean but nothing fancy.

Since Tahoe is a high altitude location the summer season is short. Must have reservations if you're going in July or August. I haven't stayed at any place for those prices, sorry I don't have any specific recommendations but there are discount hotel booking services if you search on Tahoe Accomodations.
