Lodging in Lake Tahoe

I'm looking for something special. A room with a fireplace is a must. Near casinos and ski areas. It can be a big hotel, but I want a cozy wintery feel. We'll be going this February. Am I asking for the impossible? Can someone suggest some options?

Inn By The Lake in South Lake Tahoe has nice large rooms with fireplaces. It's situated across from the lake and is near Heavenly Ski area plus only a few miles from casino's. Van shuttles will take you to the casino area from the hotel. We stayed there in Sept. and it was a very nice place. The Inn has a heated outside pool and hot tub which are available year round.

The Lakeland resort has rooms and condos with fireplaces. There's also a hot tub nearby. The other choice would be the Hilton in Incline Village (North Shore). The North Shore has a different feel from South Shore, more like old time Lake Tahoe, with a slower pace and more of a back to nature feel.

Linda,

Like Donna, I can also recommend the Inn by the Lake. I stayed there last September in a very nice one bedroom condo. I don't think my condo had a fireplace, but had a nice Jacuzzi. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the Inn is close to Heavenly Valley ski area. South Tahoe is rather crowded, however. For a cozier feel, you might find the North Shore more to your liking, but you'll be a lot further away from the casinos.

I've stayed in North and East LT the last 3 yrs. Altho I've been to So Tahoe would never recommend it for anything but a day trip. Unless you like the casinos and crowds.

I believe the Hyatt in Incline Village has a section of cottages that have fireplaces and the hotel has a casino.

For a cozy feel I highly recommend:

Pine Cone Resort
601 Highway 50
Zephyr Cove, NV 89448
(775) 588-6561

The cabins are duplexes with knotty pine
interior and real fireplaces -- and a huge supply of wood available. Each
rental consists of two rooms, the living area with fireplace, kitchen facilities and cable tv and a separate bedroom. There are lake views through large windows in each living area. You will be minutes from stateline casinos.
