my wife and i will be spending a long weekend in late febuary, and want to find lodging as close to the disneyworld marketplace/epcot for around a $100 a night or less. any ideas?

there is a Comfort Inn at te Main gate that always had good prices..check www.travelocity.com out--and do a search on Orlando on this site..check out go2orlando and flausa.com and debwills site-I think wdwig.com--

If you're going to be spending most of your time at one or all of the WDW parks, I highly recommend spending a few extra bucks and stay on property. Numerous advantages, early entry to parks, free shuttles, easy access to hotels for naps and then back to the parks for evening fun. However, if you're not planning on spending a lot of time at the parks then off-property is probably a much better deal. WDW hotels are nice but not overly luxurious.

I second Deb Wills unofficial site - www.wdwig.com Lots of trip reports and info. Hotels on "Hotel boulevard" near the Downtown Disney complex are not disney owned but are "partner" hotels, with shuttle service, and you can always catch a shuttle to/from parks at Dowbtown disney. Look for details in "getting around WDW" on Deb's site, also look at trip reports. I got great deal on lodging thru www.hotelkingdom.com my last trip to orlando. have fun!

I have stayed in Downtown Disney and the Disney area 5 times in the last six months. Three of those times were at the Wyndham Place Resort and Spa, another at the Wyndham on International Drive, and another at the Hyatt. We paid $50 & $42 @ night. We got these rates through priceline.com.

If your plans are set, perhaps you could try the Priceline strategy. I selected a 4* in the Disney area and bid no more that $50. I was quite please with the results.
