Are there any places to visit that would make an EASY daytrip from Lock Haven, PA in March or April. It can't be something that involves a lot of physical activity, as one person in our party can't do a lot of walking. I had in mind some kind of museum or historical site, but am open to any other suggestions. We really need to keep the drive under an hour each way. Thanks!

The walking part makes it more difficult but State College, PA has a little bit of everything.

If you're interested in a beautiful drive with great scenery and the opportunity to see amazing wildlife, travel northwest into the Pennsylvania Wilds region. The Northeast's only Elk herd resides here, and they are impressive animals. You could take 120 north through Renovo & Sinnemahoning into Driftwood, where you take a left onto 555 West. Off of 555 as you travel toward Benezette, there are several wildlife viewing areas that are even wheelchair-accessible, if needed. Continue south towards I-80, and then you could return via the interstate, which is also a pretty drive. This also might be a bit more than 2 hours roundtrip.

Alternately, you could drive due north toward Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon near Wellsboro, PA. This is also a beautiful area, and Wellsboro is a quaint town. This would be just about an hour's drive from Lock Haven. No elk here, though!

If you want to stay more local, travel South to Bellefonte, another beautifully quaint, historic town.

As far as museums are concerned, I'm sure there are some smaller ones scattered around though the only one that comes to mind is the (baseball) Little League Museum in Williamsport, PA - home of the Little League World Series.

If you do decide to go to State College, go by the campus dairy for some ice cream. You'll be glad you did!

Two years ago, a nephew from Italy was an exchange student. He attended Lock Haven University. I had the pleasure of visiting him while he was there. I have to say that you have a real pretty town and a gorgeous campus at Lock Haven. My nephew was extremely impressed. He said that he would love to move from Naples, where he lives, and settle in Lock Haven.
