Local Italian Restaurant in Vegas

Heading to Vegas in a couple weeks and know of, (and love), Lotus of Siam, for Thai, and Florida Cafe, for Cuban, but does anyone know of an Italian place off-strip that the locals love? Also, any opinions about the restaurants in the Orleans or the Rio would be appreciated. Thanks.

There's a really nice place called Piero's - it's on Convention Center Way right behind The Beach (nightclub). Also the Pasta Palace inside of the Palace Station is one of my family's favorites. Of course we do have the chains - like Olive Garden and Romano's Macaroni Grill.

As far as the Rio - I've never eaten in there, but the "Show in the Sky" (or whatever they call it) is awesome and the bar on the 52nd floor is incredible - the view is worth the cover charge.

The Orleans has a decent buffet and coffee shop, but we've never eaten in any of the other restaurants in there either. I guess we need to get out more!

In the Rio- Buzios (excellent seafood & lobster salad) .. I kind of liked their Mexican place, Bomboleo or something like that.

I haven't been there, but I have friends and relatives who like Battista's:

Bastista's (Hole in the wall ) is what you're looking for.

thanks to all for replying. and if anyone is interested, The Orleans, which I hear is terrific for an off-strip place, gave me a rate of $49 a night on the website. I usually stay at mandalay or Bellagio, but for a spur of the moment trip, I thought it was a fantastic rate. As long as I don't burst into flames lounging by the pool!
