The message about taking a limo from the airport got me wondering. Have any of you ever done that? What is the approximate cost to get to Midtown?

There are numerous corporate limo services that shuttle people around New York. Trips into New York from Newark are about $50, plus tolls, a trip. These are late model sedans and not limos, however.

A "limo" will probably cost about 10 to 15% more than that.

I generally don't like busses, but I had a very good experience riding Olympic Trailways' bus to and from Newark Airport for only $11.

If by chance you are thinking stretch limo (just in case) to the city I would advise against. Stretch limo will get you stuck in traffic not to mention it is like hanging a camera around your neck over a plaid shirt, followed by a staw hat. A great idea in Hawaii but a tourist/prom trademark here. Nonsense advice but I thought I would add in the event that you care.

Stick Olympic buses they are pros. You can hail a cab at port authority when you come in.

I haven't spotted real stretch limo's at EWR on my many trips there but the "limo service" or "car service" referred to will typically be in a late model Lincoln Town Car. Very comfortable and worth the extra $15 or so that it costs above the price of a cab ride (assuming you want to treat yourself and that appears to be the case).

My family used Millenium Limo last Thanksgiving and the total cost was $141.40 from Newark to 59th and Park. It was a pleasure to have someone waiting at the boarding gate when we arrived and assist with our luggage. The limo was clean and wonderful. The trip was a real treat for my grandmother on her first visit to the big apple and our driver was great. He offered suggestions and tidbits of info along the way. My husband and I returned in March and, of course, with just the two of us, we opted for a cab. Our plans have us returning to NYC for this Thanksgiving and we will definitely be using a limo service again. Go for it!
