Lighthouse Village Cabins -Homer

Has anyone stayed at the Lighthouse Village Cabins in Homer? It is a small group of cabins right near the Homer Spit. I have read that cabins can be very hit or miss so I was wondering if anyone could relate any experiences from there.

Thanks

One other Lodging inquiry: Anyone stayed at or know anything about the Trapper Creek Bed and Breakfast?

I think we passed it on our way to Gate Creek Cabins which are listed as 10.5 miles off the highway. Gate Creek Cabins are beautiful but you are on your own to cook your meals. There aren't any nearby restaurants. It's a very rural area. I would check to see how far the B&B is from Talkeetna. We only stayed one night. If the B&B is on the same road, you may have to travel to get to other attractions. Breakfast sure sounds good!

Kevin, we never stayed at the Lighthouse Village Cabins but we go there often to watch the birds from the platform. The cabins look very clean and well maintained from outside. During a low tide this area sometimes has a very unpleasant odor. Maybe you can't smell it while inside a cabin but we couldn't stand it at least one time. Maybe it is just me but I am very sensitive to this kind of things. Birding is always great from there. One time the owner came up to us and we had a nice long conversation about birding in Homer. He did not have a full house at that time. Lighthouse Cabins are located right at the begining of the Spit. So they are in an excellent location. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. After researching further, we have a reservation at the Island Watch B&B -actually cheaper than the cabins and the B&B includes a full breakfast. Thanks for the tip about bird watching from the platform there -something my wife and I like to do.

I am going to push my luck and keep asking questions Have you taken the 1/2 day or so boat tour over to Seldovia (2.5 hours in Seldovia) If so, is it worth the time especially with 2 kids (10 & 8). It is a tour saver coupon I am considering.

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin, I'm traveling right now and won't get to this site often at least for 2-3 days while in North Carolina. If you are interested in sending this interesting question to my yahoo address please do so pat2003thompson. Thanks
