Less Crowded Sonoma Suggestions

We are a group of four who will be staying in the Sonoma Valley (Santa Rosa) over Memorial Day weekend. (Fri-Wed) I hear it can be really crowded. Any suggestions to keep away from the crowds. Any restaurant suggestions?
Appreciate it.

Daniel, I have not been to Sonoma valley during Memorial Day weekend, but I'll wager a guess for you. Try the Russian River Valley wineries. They are lesser known and a bit out of the way. You could also head over to Bodega Bay for a day, especially if the weather is warm. Sonoma town and many of the better known wineries will probably be zoo-like that weekend, so make dinner reservations now.

Dan,
We found there were fewer crowds in the Dry Creek Valley between Healdsburg and Geyserville. I suggest trying the small out-of the way ones. You can't go wrong with any of the wines!

Daniel - hope I'm not too late.

Healdsburg is great, and if you go there be sure to check out the town square for great boutiques. Lake Sonoma Winery has a great view deck of the Dry Creek Valley and Farari-Carona Winery has beautiful gardens. Healdsburg is usually warmer.

Petaluma has lots of antique shops in great old buildings.

If you want tiny - try Graton. It's a little town in a beautiful valley. About 3 shops and 3 restaurants.

I live here so if you need more info you can email me.

Have a wonderful trip, Barbara
