Lenox House Suites in Chicago

Five times today I did a SEARCH for information on about this hotel. Whenever I try clicking on the posts, I get a systems failure. So .... although I know information is already on this forum, I can't retrieve it. Will you answer this post to see if I can pull it up without benefit of a search? I have had constant trouble reading the posts ever since the recent spam incident and Fodors made their changes. Thanks.

Sure. This property is located on Rush Street, one block west of Michigan Avenue, around Ontario (600 North). It is somewhat remodeled, and there is a lot of variation in room/suite layouts. We stayed there once seven or eight years ago for a "fun in the city" weekend (we live in suburban Chicago). It is certainly not fancy, but recall it as clean etc., and the location is very good.

My husband and I made the mistake of staying at the Lenox house three years ago. They advertise a ton and the hotel is in a decent location so we thought we would give it a try. Big mistake!!! The carpet in our room was so wet and dirty that I wouldn't step foot on the carpet without shoes. The hotel was booked solid and so was the enitre city for that matter and we were stuck. The staff really didn't seem to care or find our problem unususal. I would give this hotel about a 2 on the cleanliness scale. We go to Chicago a couple times a year and try to stay in a different place each time-this stands as our worst experience.

We stayed there a few years ago during a Winter Conference of MDs. Every other hotel was full or I would have moved after their maids threw out items I had hanging on one of our suite's door knobs. The hotel did nothing to compensate me for the loss. Also, when going into my safety box, the desk crew didn't check the signature card or ID. When I asked if they were going to do so, they acted like I was jerk. I'd never stay there again. There's no excuse for their unprofessional business conduct.

I got so into dumping on Lenox that I forgot : Try the Knickerbocker. They were wonderful. We came in at 3am at the same meeting next year and they were so accommodating and pleasant. Their breakfasts are nice, too. Good restaurant and good location.
