lei greetings

How do you set up a lei greeting? We are going to Maui, BI and Kauai for our honeymoon in late Oct - Nov. Do we set it up with each hotel or do we call a private company? Thanks

Aloha Jacqueline,

At most major hotels on the islands a lei greeting is given to you upon arrival free of charge. Check with your hotels to make sure. If you are looking for a special type of lei, like tuber rose or mele (sp?) your hotels should also be able to organize that for you. However expect an additional charge of about $25- up depending on your choice.

Happy honeymooning.

Thanks for the info. Do they give lei greetings at the airport or just at the hotels? How do you set them up at the airport? Thanks

Hi Jaqueline.

There are several lei greeters with web sites that operate out of Honolulu Airport...
http://www.leisofhawaii.com/index.htm
is one. They may be able to refer to you Maui/Kauai lei greeters.

In fact, some the lei stands at Honolulu airport are going on-line! Talk about an industry in transition...For the old-style lei stands, visit chinatown. We like Sweetheart's.

Aloha, and best wishes on your marriage.

When we arrived at the airport on Oahu a lady with an arm full of leis walked up to us, stuck out her hand and said "Here." We laughed. How romantic.

When we arrived at our first hotel on Kauai we were greeted in what we considered "the proper way" by the girl that checked us in. We were properly leid.

Check with your travel agent - both times we went to Hawaii (Maui & Kuai) it was part of our package - assuming that you got some sort of package trip through a travel agent.

I have searched the web and chose a flower shop (among many) that did one of that at Maui airport. There were only about a dozen of them when we arrived so it was not hard to find the one carrying ours. The lady carrying the lei had my internet order. I signed a receipt and that was it. Expect to pay $35+.

I had also arranged an airport lei greeting as a part of tour package, but that was pre-internet days.

Unless you are staying at budget hotels, you would probably get a lei greeting and tropical fruit punches when you arrive at hotel. You can check this part easily thru your hotel.
