We are flying into LAX next month late at night and need to stay somewhere till our flight up to Monterey the next morning. Can you recommend a hotel near the airport? Nothing too fancy is required, just clean and safe and moderately priced. Thanks.

Any of the hotels on Century Blvd would be fine. The Hacienda is the one that comes to mind or the Holiday Inn Express. Most have shuttle service to LAX for the next morning. The area is fine, perfectly safe but boring.

We recently stayed at the Sheeraton Four Points - beautiful accomodations, shuttle to and from the airport, restaurant and lounge on site, Burger King and Denny's a short walk away...depends on what you are looking for.

We stayed at the Sheraton Four Points for 7 nights last summer for $55/night, but that was an industry rate. It was a nice enough place, as long as you didn't have to try & use the parking lot. Didn't really use the amenities, because we always left early & came back late. We also have stayed at the Westin, which is very nice, & just abit farther from the airport than the Four Points. All the hotels in this area seem to have airport shuttles. Never felt unsafe in either one.

We've stayed at the Furama Hotel a couple of times (just north of LAX, with shuttle service). It's adjacent to a residential area, grocery store, etc so you get "away from the airport" without being more then 3 miles away & it's a safe area we walked around for blocks. Rooms are OK, nothing exciting, there is a pool, etc. The Tower Rooms seem to be better, but for one night ... I would stay away from the Hacienda - stayed there once, very musty smelling place and the service was terrible (rude desk clerks, unattentive maid service).
