LAS VEGAS SHOWS
We are in LV 13-19 October and have already booked up Cirque De Soleil's "O". As already seen Cirque De Soleil's La Nouba in Florida which was woderful decided to go for this rather than Mystere which sounded quite similar. Do all seats get good view? We are to the left side just behind Section 201.
Looking for a second show and torn between Roy and Siegfried and Jubilee and would appreciate comments on which is better or if there is something else we should not miss that I may not know about. Thought about Blue Man Group which gets good reviews at Luxor but do not know anything at all about what the show is about.
Comments would be appreciated.

I though S&R was a hoot. But, you should go in with the expectation that it defines Cheezy Vegas. Cirque De Soleil, it is not. But, if you're in the mood, and have a sense of humor about it, S&R can be fun if you want to experience the Vegas of Liberace/Tom Jones/Wayne Newton type of entertainment.
You might also want to look see who is playing in town those nights. We've gone to several comedy shows (Dennis Miller & Jay Mohr) and found it to be a fun way to spend a few hours.

There is a show at the Aladdin, Society of Seven, which is terrific and a great dollar value. The tickets are $35 or $45 per person, children 5 and over are allowed. These guys are more talented than most of the bigger name entertainers on the Strip and funny as well. They are from Hawaii and have been together for years; they are known as thte premiere show band in Hawaii and were based in the Waikiki Outrigger for many years. I'm sure you won't be diappointed.

I would not recommend Jubilee. To me, it was like watching the Lawrence Welk Show except that the women were topless! Kinda surreal! And when the Titanic skit began, my husband and I just looked at each other and started to crack up. Not that the women weren't gorgeous, and the kitsch of the show is appealing for about 20 minutes, but then it just gets boring, and I regretted spending $60 on it. I'd go for Siegfried & Roy next time. (I haven't seen it.)

We saw both Siegfrid and Roy, and Jubilee in May. We really enjoyed S&R, but really didn't care for Jubilee.I have to agree with poster frankie's comments about Jubilee, right on the mark. We also saw Mystere and it was the best. I want to see it again next year.

Just returned from Vegas - saw S&R thought it was very good - (give you two free drinks - beer etc) - they do seat you at tables and if there is only two of you -you most likely will be seated at a table with other couples. We had friends that saw Blue Man Group and they did not like it - very loud and they throw things at the audience - toilet paper etc -said the humor was not funny. My friend said the paper was all sticky and she had troulbe peeling it off. Also had friends that saw Jubliee and Lance Burton and liked both - especially Lance Burton. We could not get tickets to "O" or Ceilene - hope to see them when we go back. Again - I don't think you will go wrong with S&R - the illusions are great and the animals are beautiful.

A question like yours is very subjective. We saw Jubilee in April and enjoyed it, felt it was like "old" Las Vegas, with a lot of showgirls & beautiful costumes. It was done in very good taste. We did not like either of the Cirque shows, although felt that Mystere was better than O. Sigfried & Roy was very loud & colorful, but we thought it was just a lot of bells & whistles. Never saw Danny Gans, but heard from people that they were disappointed. Loved Lance Burton. Wayne Newton is a fixture & supposed to be very entertaining (again, subjective). The comedy clubs are usually pretty good. We were able to get "twofers" for the Improv on the strip in the M&M Factory on the day of the show.
Whatever you do, you'll have fun, that's what Vegas is about!

In addition to suggestions given so far, I would highly recommend Gladys Knight at the Flamingo and if you want to venture off the strip, go see the Scintas at the RIO. The following site is a good resource for finding our all the entertainment opportunities in the near future in Vegas ://www.a2zlasvegas.com

I have to agree with Frankie also. We saw Jubilee several years ago (free tickets came with the room package). I think you might enjoy it if you're over 70. As I was watching it I thought that my parents would like it. We were really bored though (were in our early thirties). In fact, we left before it was over. I've never seen Siegfried and Roy so can't comment on that. I did see Gladys Knight (in Atlantic City), though, and I second the recommendation from a previous post. She has a very good voice and a surprising number of songs that I knew (but had forgotten about over the years).

I enjoyed Danny Gans immensely a few years ago but have heard his show hasn't changed at all. I've never been interested in magic but thought Lance Burton was better than S&R. I saw "O" last week and thought it only marginally better than La Nouba, so obviously (based on everyone else's reviews), I am a strange person indeed!
The theatre for O is quite large but I doubt there's a bad seat in the house.

Please, please pass on Jubilee, unless you think you will enjoy the super kitsch.
I would give two thumbs up to Blue Man Group. I saw it in NYC before it came to Vegas. I too had no clue what I was going to see and that added to the experience.
It's very hip, modern and unlike anything else.

Surfermoo,
Please let us know what you think about Zumanity - I'm a huge Cirque and Vegas fan so I can't wait to see it!
Flying Scot,
I've seen almost every Cirque show, La Nouba, O, and Mystere and most of the traveling shows. As for O, all seats are not created equal. The difference between this and all of their other shows is that because it is done in water, most everything is at stage level, so if you are far up your view isn't as good. (As opposed to La Nouba where we were in the third row and couldn't see some of what happened when the artists rose up high upon the props). We were in section 103 at O and loved it - friends had gone before and been in the 200 & 300 sections and said it wasn't as good. I guess it's all relative - what do you want for your $110? I expect a lot. I don't want to rain on your parade, you'll love the show no matter what, (and it's too late to do anything about it now anyways, you should have asked about seats BEFORE you bought your tickets if it really was that important) it is spectacular, the thing is you can't even get the good seats unless you're "someone special," a "high roller," or an employee (my friends brother worked for them in San Diego at the time and got us "employee" seats - otherwise totally unavailable to the public).
As for your second show, Lance Burton was great, and only $65 compared to over $100 for S&R.

I also sat in section 103 and our seats were wonderful (I was lucky enough to have a friend with VIP connections) but they did cost $150 each. There were more than 100 people on the standby line so it's obviously quite a feat to get any kind of tickets. Just bring binoculars and I think you'll do fine with your seats. I saw the Lion King on Broadway from the balcony and from the first row and loved it both times.

I have seen Jubilee and did not like it. It is an old time Vegas show with show girls and feathers etc. If you like that sort of thing, you will probably enjoy it. Danny Gans was great, very funny, but some people might think he is an over priced comedian. I like a variety of entertainment so it's all a matter of what you will find entertaining. Blue Man Group appeals to me but I know it is not for everyone. I really liked Amazing Jonathan, but his show consists of kind of gross humor. I thought it was hilarious. I also like the headliners when they are in town. Never a disappointment. Have fun!!
