Las Vegas for only 1 day
Have you been to Las Vegas lately? I would like your suggestions!
I am taking two couples friends to Las Vegas for only 1 day during our sightseeing Tour going to Brice Canyon, they are visiting from Europe. It will be in mid-October. What would you recommend not to miss, I was in Las Vegas about 9 years ago!
Thank you for all your responses.

Depends on what they want to see, fake Europe, fake New York, fake Egypt or something else
In the something else category you've got Hoover Dam and Lake Mead or Valley of Fire State Park. Also, for amusement, the Liberace Museum and the free "shows" at Circus Circus.
I like Lake Mead, the Valley of Fire and a drive along the lakeshore to Overton and a nice little museum there.

If you've got one day I would not recommend driving out of the city.
Take them to see a Cirque du Soleil show, or any other show that may fit their style better. Indoor skydiving is fun, not sure it would be on the 'not to be missed' list though.
I would strongly recommend a drive up/down the Strip at night, even though it may be crowded and take quite awhile. If it's mid-week you've got a better shot at less traffic.

Depends on ages and likes/dislikes of your friends......however, my suggestions would be: For one night I agree with staying in a hotel mid-Strip; Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon is a perfect location and has the easiest in and out parking. Check their website. We stayed there in June and had perfect views of the Bellagio fountains at night, just diagonally across the street. Walking to and through some of the other hotels -- seeing the fake Europe, fake New York, fake Egypt mentioned above -- is fun, as is the people watching on the strip (maybe from the balcony at Margaritaville). You can always see a show and have a good dinner, too.

Visit Caesars Palace - go to the Forum Shops and walk thru the casino to the main pit and past the front desk and out the front door. Turn right and walk over the bridge to Bellagio, thru the casino to the front desk area and turn right and look around. Come out the front door or back to the bridge and go down to the street in front and see the fountain show. Walk the bridge over LV Blvd and go into Ballys, across the casino and follow the signs to Paris. You will see several restaurants on the Rue between the two hotels. That's a start.
What part of Europe are they from?

Definitely just walk the strip. That could take a whole day. I wonder if there is a walking tour on iTunes at all? Or there has to be one on-line somewhere of the highlights of each hotel. Print off the times for all the free shows like Treasure Island, Bellagio fountains, etc. so you know where to be when. And I thought the aquarium at Mandalay Bay was wonderful.

Vegas for ONE day only is a tease! You will want more! Vegas is all about the strip. Don't waste your only day there in the car. Like everyone else said, get out, walk the strip, enjoy the lights, sounds, and madness that Vegas is famous for! Theres a trolly type car you can ride up and down the strip for $1.00 (unless thats changed) That way you won't have to walk so far! Have fun!
