A couple of thoughts on earlier posts:
1. you'll have a better chance of finding lower limit tables Downtown. Would not recommend walking between the Strip and Downtown, as the area in between is unsafe -- there are cabs and a city bus that connect the two.
2. I found the monorail useless. It runs behind the casinos on the eastern side of the Strip, but it's a very long walk from the monorail stops to the street. As slow as the city bus is that runs down the Strip, it's more useful for getting around this area.

When was this? We were there in June and all the information I read mentioned $5 rides, nothing about $9 all day rides.
Just looked it up and one site mentions $15 for all day (which I do seem to recall and sharing a cab among 2 couples was cheaper), and another site mentions a July internet special of $9 all day.

Sarge, I think you were lucky. The Hilton is considered way out of the way -- or it always was, but the monorail has made it easily reachable from the rest of the strip. It is literally the only hotel for which the monorail is a huge bonus!
