Las Vegas Car Rental?
We will be staying at the Bellagio Hotel in a week and wish to rent a car for one day to drive out to some of the sites. Can I rent the car right at the hotel? Would it be cheaper to do it elsewhere. Any help would be appreciated. This is our first trip to Vegas and we are "rookies".

Maggi,
Rent a car at the airport--by far the easist place. Las Vegas can be suffocating after a few days (I always feel like I'm in another world and need to escape to reality) so side trips to Hoover Dam, etc. are a welcome change. Have a great trip!

Many of the hotels also have car rental counters. When I went in December I rented the car at the airport when I flew in but I returned the car to the Imperial Hotel which was next door to mine (the Flamingo Hilton). Both of which have car rental counters but the one at the Flamingo was much higher. Sorry I can't remember which rentals they were - I think AVIS, Dollar - I know National is only at the airport. Anyway, check with the Bellagio as to if they have a car rental company. Also check out the web sites for Avis and Dollar.

A site that lists alot of the hotel locations is www.lvol.com
Under "transportation in LV" car rentals, it lists some of the hotel locations.

Stay away from the cheap fly-by-night rental agencies on the strip. Stay with the national companies. I rented a car from a place across from New York New York and I had a hard time when I returned it and I was afraid of a bogus charge on my card. It turned out OK but I'll never do it again.

Hello Maggi,
I would agree with the comment about collecting a car at the airport - it makes things much easier and also cheaper. We used a site called CarandVanRental.com (http://www.CarandVanRental.com ) which compares rates from all the major auto rental companies to find the best deal. We booked with Alamo for $23 per day, an excellent service and we would recommend it.

When we come over to Vegas from England
we are tired after travelling for so long and I found when I rented the car at the Airport I was shattered by the time I got to the hotel, last time in
February I decided to order a car for the following morning at the hotel, Mirage from Dollar. This worked really
well, but I have recently hit the Dollar
website, Dollar.com and priced for another trip next weekk and that is when I realised that you pay another 40%
extra to pick up at the hotel. Try a few sample reservations on the same car
and you will see what I mean. So next
week it is back to picking up at the Airport
