Las Vegas bargains
Just saw an article on CNN.com talking about the great bargains to be had in Las Vegas. We are planning to go for a couple of days at the end of Sept. We have made a reservation at the Luxor - Pyramid, Deluxe, King, Non-smoking for $106/night (including taxes) I think the nightly rate might have been $89 - don't have it in front of me right now. Anybody find anything better?

Depends if your days include weekends or not....Septemeber is a little far off for some deals to be offered, but keep an eye on:

there are some deals already for the Luxor for $47, Mirage for $58, and MGM for $75.

Deb,
I have found that if you want just hotel, check the LA Times travel section. Any hotel that is offering rock bottom prices will put the ad there. But if you are in TN, check the wholesalers, as you can get air and hotel for what you might pay in air alone.
btw Im bias: I never felt the Luxor wa sthat great in enetertainment and restaurants AND I have never won at the Luxor!! All joking aside, I think you can get a good rate at the MGM, which I like.

Rio Suites has great rooms and typically lower rates - it's close to everything but off the strip. It's across from The Palm.
Luxor is not my fav. Mandalay Bay is a higher end hotel, on the strip, great restaurants and bars. Normal rates are $160-$229. I've paid as low as $120 in Sept. just after school starts.
MGM is the largest hotel in the galaxy - too big. You have to walk the length of the casino to get anywhere - by design. I walked for 30 minutes to pick up a fax. Really.

The bargains are definitely out there. We stayed at the Golden Nugget downtown a couple of weeks ago for $49 per night. Nice king room; beautiful hotel and casino. Rent car (found on Travelocity) was $9 per day.
On the flight home I met a couple who paid $69 at Treasure Island, which they said had been redone and was very nice.
A friend who joined the Tropicana players club last time she was in Vegas told me she received an offer by email today from that hotel for $39 per night.

Please provide a plan of attack regarding timing, websites, promotions etc., to provide the best deal on lodging and airfare based upon the following:
Arrive October 1st for three nights (dates are firm) for the these properties in order of preference; Paris, Planet Hollywood, Bally's.
A morning departure from MSP on 10/1 with an afternoon return to MSP on 10/4.
Thanks in advance for any insight...bdj

I too am looking for Vegas bargains for May travel. I am finding good deals at the hotes, but airfair from BWI is what kills the room deals. I can't seem to beat the prices thru SouthWest vacations. Any tips on how I can get deal on airfare?
