I'm not sure about closing of the swimming pools. We were there last year around the middle/end of October. 22nd-25th, and it was actually perfect weather. Temps around 75 degrees each day. Bring a jacket for the evening as it definetley gets colder. I had to buy a fleece coat and wore jeans at night. People were swimming in the pools. We had fun... Picture Perfect weather for us. Now my friend went in December and it was a lot colder. They wore coats all day. Check lvol.com for more info.
P.S. Go and see MYSTERE show at Treasure Island. Awesome Show!!
Have Fun

The weather can be very iffy in Novemeber and it also depends on when in November. Many of the hotel pools will be closed. However there are some that won't be. The Flamingo Hilton keeps their heated pool open all year. Acutally all of their pools are open except the unheated main pools will be freezing. However I have seen folks swimming in them in December,

How many days? Las Vegas is so much fun you could easily spend a week! Any amount of time will make you want to go back. Have fun.

I've never known anyone who could spend a whole week in LV.
Most people are burned out by day three.
Good side trips can extend the limits of tolerance, but 7 straight days in LV? I'd be frazzled and frayed.

With all that there is now to do and see in Las Vegas, you could easily spend a week there. Weather probably won't be warm enough for the pool but it is possible. As far as hotel recommendations - for a first time visitor, I would suggest mid-strip - Mirage, Caesar's Palace, Bellagio, Flamingo Hilton, Bally, and Venetian are all in fairly close proximity to one another. It depends on how much you want to spend.

Since you have only ten days to work with, I would suggest you limit it to California (There is even too much to do there in 10 days - San Fran, Napa Valley, LA, San Diego, and all points in between). At least though you won't be so overwhelmed - you can research and find out what spots in California you might want to see. I suggest this in part because California would be a quick flight from Las Vegas.

If your days in Las Vegas are between Nov 10 and 18, be warned that there is a major computer convention, the city gets crowded and prices for the top hotels are about $300 per night. Having been to Comdex too many times, Las Vegas in November always struck me as being perfect golf weather but certainly not swimming weather.
