Lake Powell Tours

We will be staying in Page in May and would like to book a boat tour of Lake Powell. Any suggestions on the best one to take. I see there is an Antelope Canyon tour, a Navajo Canyon tour and some general cruising tours. What is the best time of day/eve to catch good picture taking light? I know it is usually early or late, but I am wondering if it's different in the canyons.

Thanks! Trish

We took the all-day cruise which took us out onto the Lake & into the canyon. Then you were able to get off the boat & walk to Rainbow Bridge NM. Fantastic! But the other boat rides (shorter) are great too as long as they take you into a slot canyon on the lake.

Thanks, laurieb_nyny. The Rainbow Bridge boat tour looks great. If decide on a shorter ride, I think Antelope Canyon looks interesting.

I love the Rainbow Bridge Boat Tour. You really get a feel for the lake and see a lot of beautiful scenery.

Rainbow Bridge is the MAIN attraction of Lake Powell. Do not miss this tour. They offer a half-day speedboat tour to Rainbow Bridge. We have done it twice and strongly recommend it.

The speedboat would be the way to go. Rainbow Bridge is a looong way by boat from Wahweap/Page.

I think it was DebitNM who did this tour last year. I looked for her report, but couldn't find it. Maybe she'll be along soon to offer more info.

Thanks for your input. We would like to do a half day trip to Rainbow Bridge, but I'm having a hard time finding one. I see that there will be one that leaves from Lake Powell Resorts starting in mid June, but we will be there May 22. Anybody know if there's a speedboat company operating then?

This is the first I've heard of a speedboat tour so it must be fairly new..or the poster was talking about renting a boat and going on your own. Not sure I'd recommend that. We went a few years back in BIL's ski boat..and it's a ROUGH ride though the 12 miles of Antelope Canyon in a small boat!

I made the first half-day trip to Rainbow Bridge in April 1986 and the second in May 1995.

However, I found one tour operator who starts not before 16 June with this tour.

But there is still a 7-hour-tour to Rainbow Bridge.
