Labor Day @ Chelsea Market and Two Restaurant Questions
Does anyone have knowledge as to whether or not Chelsea Market is open on Labor Day? The website isn't very helpful. Also, two more questions - 1. any reviews on the restaurant Gin Lane in Greenwich and 2. is The Palm West worth visiting before a Broadway show?

I'm assuming you mean in Manhattan. It's open.
I've eaten in the other Palm restaurants several times and always enjoyed them. I haven't been to the West side one yet. Gin Lane gets good reviews on Menupages, but haven't been.

If you say Greenwich, please will think you mean the place in Connecticut. If you mean Greenwich Village, it's called "the village."
Here are those good reviews of Gin Lane

and some for the Palm West

If I wanted steak before a show, I'd go to Keen's

or if that's too far from the theater,
Ruth's Chris

Have you been to Chelsea Market? We were in NYC Aug 5-8 and noone seemed to know where it was! Not even a policeman I asked about 3 blocks from it...Perhaps we went to the wrong place..we ended up at a Whole Foods Mkt (I think) in the Chelsea District...the food looked wonderful but I guess I expected more...did I miss something? I thought it was near the Food Network studios...

Chelsea Market is an entire block. It's an old Nabisco factory that now houses lots of food stores.

I would call one of the shops in the Chelsea Market to see if they are open on Labor Day just to make sure. Here is a toll free number for the "Chelsea Market Basket" 888-727-7887 it's a gourmet food store with lots of wonderful goodies!
