LA to san diego?
I staying in la from 17th - 31st december. Will make a trip (or more) to san diego for sea world and maybe san diego zoo (if it's worth it - need some convincing).
Is there a daily shuttle i can catch from LA to san diego? or is it better to just spend a few nights in san diego instead?

There's a train. Can only find this schedule, no prices or locations

Once you arrive, don't know how you'd get to your destination. Maybe someone else can help.
Lots to see & do in SD. You might like to stay a night or 2.

you have long enough that i would definitly go down and spend 3 nights. san diego is a beautiful city. if you could rent a car, that would be the most convenient way. you could drive one way on the coast road - stop in laguna beach for lunch. i love sea world - a little pricey but great. the zoo is also wonderful if you enjoy zoos.

LA is a huge city. San Diego is a large city. They are roughly two hours apart by car. The LA-San Diego Amtrak service operates out of Union Station downtown-- which is its only stop in LA County. Save yourself the logistics nightmare-- just stay in San Diego a couple of days. It's actually a pretty nice place!

After that long in LA, you may welcome the friendlier, cleaner, more relaxed atmosphere in San Diego. I say rent a car and stay here awhile. Although the two cities are close together, they feel a world apart.

The reference abopve to Overland Trail was for a restored rail car that operates as an excusrsion only once a month or so. It's fun to ride but is not intended as transportation.

In August, I took the Amtrak train between L.A. to San Diego, and found the train to be a very pleasant experience. Be sure to sit on the "west" side to the car to enjoy a magnificent ocean view for much of the journey.
Other than Sea World and the zoo, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy other activities in San Diego.
