LA shopping districts
Hi
I am joining a friend in LA for two days and we need suggestions on hip, interesting shopping areas--definitely not your "Every-Mall" place with Banana Republics and Pottery Barns. We'll have a car; both of us in mid thirties.
Thanks!

Shop on Melrose. It's exactly what you're looking for. http://www.losangeles.com/shopping/

Thanks for the great links, everyone! Is the Santee Alley/Fashion District also known as the "Garment District?" Is Saturday very crazy there? We'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Is it worth changing our schedule to try to get there on Friday? We'll definitely try to hit Melrose too.

I have never been to the fashion district on a weekend. However, I can tell you that traffic getting in and out of downtown on a Sat. or Sun. will be much easier than on a Friday. I would stick with your current schedule.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
