La Pensione in Key West

I saw a couple of posts mention La Pensione B&B in Key West and am thinking of making a reservation there. Any one know of a reason not to stay there?

Jon - There's a wonderful message board on AOL with lots of information about the keys. I'm too lazy to do a back search for information about La Pensione (I don't remember seing anything negative, though ) To access the message board, use the keyword "travel", then click on "travel talk" on the lower left side, on the next page click on "united states" in the center, then "message boards" on the upper left. Once you locate it, put it on your favorite places...I use those boards all the time and they have great information on them. If you have a problem locating them, send me an email and I'll send you the direct link.

There is nothing real negative about La Pensione other than its location on Truman Ave. If you get one of the rooms within the back part of the place it won't be that bad. Its the traffic in the morning & of course in the late afternoon plus the Harley's coming buy. Other than the traffic noise, this is a real nice place to stay. Its a couple of blocks from Duval St., at the upper end & about a fifteen minute walk to Mallory Square. About the same amount of time to the beach area as well. The owners are very pleasant & will cater to your needs. Continental breakfast every morning & a little wine & cheese by the pool in the afternoon. Hope this helps.

Jon- one of the posts you saw regarding La Pensione may have been mine- we stayed there last October. I don't recall traffic noise being a problem (of course, it was off season) and we had a room close to Truman. I highly recommend getting a room on the second floor that has access to the wrap around balcony. We actually liked the location on Truman being a little bit away from the action on Duval. The hosts are super- Carol bakes wonderful chocolate chip cookies! I hope you give it a try- I think it might be a hidden gem in Key West. As someone else mentioned, they do have a pool and they also have on-site parking, which can be a big deal in Key West.
