L-o-n-g weekend suggestions, please.

Have no specific area in mind; looking for something comfortable and reasonable (read c-h-e-a-p). We are in Ohio but can use ffmiles for transportation. Want a place to unwind, relax, and and still see something. Sounds contradictory doesn't it. Okay Foderites, any ideas?

You are really leaving this wide open, and I'm not sure of the timing of this long weekend, but last September my husband and I took the kids for a long weekend to Clearwater Beach, FL (you could also do St. Petersburg Beach). Both are easy drives from Tampa airport and from now thru fall, Florida hotels are CHEAP. We ate great seafood, soaked up the rays (the Gulf water is so warm) and went to a Devil Rays baseball game.

Just a thought. Depends on what you like.

Canada is a wonderful bargain right now due to the weak Canadian Dollar and you should be able to be in Toronto in a couple of hours from Ohio. Check the Canada forum for more info.

Agree with the above. Summer is the LOW point for tourism in Florida, so you'll have no problem finding cheap accoomodations. There'll be heat, humidity, and mosquitoes worse than anything you can imagine in Ohio, but air conditioning will make it bearable. Go to the beach to relax, go the Everglades or other wetlands to see wildlife, see a museum for edification, and visit an amusement park for fun.

Charlottesville, Virginia. Tour Jefferson's Mt Vernon, and/or local wineries. Either find a B&B (not cheap) or motel accomodations (there should be a number of choices, just to service the U of Virginia - which is also a pretty interesting "site")
