I have spent a week at Carolina Beach the last six summers. I'm a California (beach) native, but the water is warmer, there's no fog, and the people are VERY friendly. The only drawback is getting used to the sun coming UP from the ocean!

Kure Beach and Carolina Beach are more rednecky than some of the other beaches. More condos than are usually seen at most southern North Carolina beaches. One plus about Kure Beach is its proximity with a state aquarium near Fort Fisher, which comes in handy on bad-weather days when you have young children.

Condos can/do make a big difference. @ Holden there are really only a couple of sets of Condos on the whole island & they are smallish (maybe 20 units each). They have done a good job there restricting commercial development + they have height restrictions as well. Is 'rednecky' a word ?? LOL

Well, its too late because I booked the condo at Kure beach this morning. Im assuming the water is the same all up an down the coast. As far as rednecky- Im taking my chewing tobacco and my tan lines. Im still in need of a name for the bloodhound pup we are picking up on the way home .Any suggestions ?

Please forgive my confusion, you ask a question @ 10:58pm, you come back @ 3:26pm the following day & say it's a done deal...(?) Why even bother to ask the question ? Granted, GW & I got off on a bit of a tangent, but I guess you were just seeking confirmation of your choice ? Actually the water is not the same, once arriving you may want to go to someplace local (piers are good)& check to see if there have been any recent problems....jelly fish, rips, etc.
