KID'S FRIENDLY RESTAURANTS

Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants that are GOOD with children, e.g. understanding. Not looking for fast food but are there any children themed restaurants?

What city? I can list plenty of kid-friendly and fun theme restaurants in Chicago, but I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for. Help us out.

Barry:

Glad that you asked. I am going to go about this a little differently.

The restaurants that are GOOD with children tend to be those where the children are GOOD to the restaurant, its dining guest etc.

The best reataurant for kids is one where the PARENTS have the good sense to have taught their children how to behave and respect the dining rights of others, mainly the right to enjoy a meal without screaming, whining and throwing a tantrum, banging silver and the like.

The bonus is that these well mannered kids, taught to be so by their parents, then grow up to dine without screaming, whining, throwing a tantrum, banging silver, talking on cell phones, not silencing their pagers, getting drunk and being totally rude to the waiters and the other diners.

Children themed restaurants, that are not fast food, are no different from a young adult ecastacy dance club: totally anything goes behavior.

Hope that helps. I am a mom.

My daughter and I eat out occasionally and she is well behaved but my votes for best eats for kids are as follows:

Any japanese - especially where they prepare before you - my picky daughter even loves the food.

Macaroni Grill - GREAT kids menu, they
let the kids draw on the paper tablecloth and food is good for the adults also.

Red Robin - just new to our city. definitely themed for kids - kinda loud but great kids menu, adult menu, food is good and atmosphere is good.
