Hoping to get to Strolling of the Heifers in Brattleboro VT on June 7. Looks like a great festival.
Finally took all three including 2 yo Sweet William to SEE science center in Manchester NH. All three loved the museum. Of course, William mostly liked walking on steps and platforms. The Manchester Millyard built in Legos was more fascinating than I expected.
Science Center in Holderness NH is also on the to do list. I think we will wait until all the schools have finished doing field trips.
Winslow indeed must have been windy at the top! It was windy on the ground. Many years ago when we had snowmobiles we could go from our door to the top of Mt Kearsarge but it was from the Warner side.
We have not been to Old Time Farming Days at Musterfield Farm in North Sutton in a few years. It's a nice family event. One of my favorites was watching the local 4-H kids take their working steers (oxen) thru the obstacle course. The 4-H leader encourages his younger, newer club members to do this. It's just amazing to see a small child with a big team although usually they have a young team that grows with them. Merrimack County in NH has the largest 4-H working steer club in the state. There's a tractor parade after lunch with mostly antique tractors. Kids can try walking on stilts. Usually lacemakers are there as well as spinners to demonstrate their craft. Event is usually around the third weekend in August.
We joined the family at a small, primitive campground last Saturday. It was a club meetup/activity day. The kids rode bikes and did other kids things that didn't require electricity. Thanks to some rain, there were some mud puddles which fascinated the 2 yo (and yes, he fell face first). The older kids (still under age 10) formed a trash can lid marching band. Love seeing kids decide what to do on their own. We just watch them to make sure it's not dangerous. And, yes, they get dirty riding bikes thru mud puddles.

travelgirl - I hate to admit this, but I don't have a bike! I really do need to buy one. And we need to get my five year old off training wheels this summer.
dfrost - great ideas! Old Farming Days sounds fun...I'll have to request it off work. Too late to get June 7 off. As for SEE Science, that Lego display is great, isn't it? My four year old loves walking around the display and checking it all out.

Headed down to Somerville to the new Lego Discovery Center. The boys had fun...spent about 4 hours there.
Pros: free parking, clean, friendly staff, healthy-ish food options, mini Boston is very cool, opening ride is fun (like Buzz Lightyear at Disney)
Cons: expensive, not enough tires/wheels in the make a car section, not enough seating at the cafe, Wizards Apprentice ride is awful and extremely slow loading, opening video is impossible to understand, design your own Lego man moves too quickly for little kids (you don't get to take one home)
Overall I give it a C. I'd go back but only with a discount.

Rizzo, we've never gone swimming at Wadleigh State Park which you will pass as you drive up to Musterfield. The food at Musterfield is decent but a picnic is even better. I think the 4-H working steer club only does the obstacle course on one day. Hope it's the day you go. The younger club members do this so sometimes the teams are pretty young.
It's getting near 4th of July. We love a parade. Sometimes we have gone on vacation to a place that has a great parade: Bath ME Heritage Days, Bristol VT, Brandon VT, and we've even been to a 4th of July parade in Kenai AK. NH also has the unique holiday called Old Home Day which is celebrated on different weekend in different towns which still practice the tradition. Our small town has a very short parade followed by games in the park (three legged race, etc). People bring picnic lunches and there's live music. The littlest kids get to dig in a sand pile for prizes. The whole idea for the event is for people to visit their home towns and visit with each other.

We usually go to Hollis Old Home Days. And we've done Hudson once as well.
As for the 4th...I'm working the 3rd, 4th, 5th....so no holiday fun for me. The boys will be at the coast.
