Kids Activities at Big Island Resorts
Headed for the Big Island with 5 and 1 1/2 year olds next March and need the right place to stay. Anyone have experience with kids' programs at Mauna Lani, Kona Village, Hilton Waikoloa, or other spots? Any kid-friendly condo. complexes? Many thanks!

JB,
We stayed at the Orchid at Mauna Lani a couple years ago without the kids, but the whole time I was there thought it would be a great place for kids. The Hilton Waikoloa also looks like a great place for kids, but not very "true Hawaii" IMHO. It is a very beautiful resort, just a little on the artificial side for us. Dolphin Quest, at HW, was one of the highlights of our kids, ages 9 & 7, vacation. We went the condo route this last trip. Kanaloa at Kona is a great complex, but maybe not ideal for kids as young as yours. I've also heard wonderful things about Kona Village and Four Seasons as far as kids activities. You can hardly go wrong with any of these resorts!

Aloha,
The above posts are very good and I especially recommend the Waikoloa -it's a wonderful family vacation destination. You also asked whether or not there were any "kid friendly" condo complexes - I'd recommend either the Kona Coast Resort or the Surf & Racquet Club, both are located about 5 miles south from Kona town.
Hope you have a great vacation. Please remember to share all the details with us!
