Key West-young single travel time?

I was thinking of taking a trip down to key west this summer... august actucally. Does anyone know what kind of stuff is going on then?... I like all kinds of things... but i'm not a big fan of the super touristy stuff...but a little is ok... I'm only 21 and will be traveling alone so any suggestions that would fit for someone like me would be great..... ps i'm a student and will be there about 3 weeks I think.... thanks for any suggestions

Go to www.keywest.com for schedule of events, and lots of other information. Three weeks in Key West could be a very long time!

I come from the UK and we go to Key West for 2 week vacations. There's loads to do and I reckon if your there for longer you'll easily get a bar job etc.... if you're just bumming there are loads of cheap place's to stay.... it's a magic place - relax and enjoy

With that amount of time, you should start in Miami in South Beach and hop your way down the keys, spending a day or two in each area. It would be off season and easy to get rooms anywhere. Finish in Key West because it costs the most, just make sure you have gas money to get back, or you will end up living there. have fun.
