Key West Florida

We are heading to Key West in January 2010...

Can anyone give us advise on where to stay in Key West. The prices seem to be quite high for hotels at that time of the year and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with private rentals etc in Key West. There will only be the two of us for a week to ten days ,,,

It depends on what you are looking for, but my husband and I always stay at the Gardens Hotel right off of Duval. It is a boutique type of hotel, has beautiful rooms and a nice size pool. The hotel is so close to everything (no need for a car) and yet while you are there you feel miles away. I highly recommend the Gardens!! - Susan

That's an expensive time of year in the Keys. What is your budget?

Try athomekeywest.com for vacation rentals. And the above post is correct - January is the highest of the high season, so prices reflect that.

At that time of year is the high season in KW. You will not find a discount until March.

We have rented from www.athomekeywest.com and from www.compass-realty.com in the past and have had good experiences with both.

We have also stayed at the Southernmost on the Beach, Dewey House and my SIL stayed at one one Duval, maybe the Conch Hotel, that they really liked.

You may find a better deal renting a house rather than a hotel. Just make sure whatever you rent is in the historic district so you can walk everywhere.

We just returned last night from five nights in Key West. Our last few trips we've stayed at Cypress House. Just love the place. Very nice B&B. Good breakfasts, awesome staff, and absolutely wonderful happy hour.

I love my time there, but think I would rent a house or condo if I was staying over a week.
