Key West - enough to do for 3 days?
My husband and I are planning on going to Key West for 3 days, 4 nights. He's not a beach/pool person. Is there enough to do there for that amount of time (with spending mega money on jet ski rentals, etc.) or will we probably get bored?

Do you like boats? You can take a boat out and snorkel at the reef. If you SCUBA, so much the better. You can take a day either flying or boating to the Dry Tortugas. Fort Jefferson is located there, but there isn't much else. But it's an intersting trip. the water seems to be a tad clearer down there, and the snorkeling is superb. Key West is loaded with some super restaurants; I find that eating always kills some time. But to me, the main thing about the Keys and Key West that I like is the chance to do NOTHING but relax. have fun.

another suggestion if you drive -- rent a convertible. there's not much happening for the first 1/3 of the trip but once you get into the keys (the 7 mile bridge, etc.) it's fantastic. blue water on both sides and blue sky above. plus you'll look cool tooling down duval street!
don't worry - there's plenty to do in key west. there's lots of little boutiques and restaurants to keep you occupied. the glass bottom boat is a fun, touristy thing to do. the banana cafe on duval is a nice place for breakfast and the half shell raw bar is great for some afternoon shrimp steamed in beer. if you like ernest hemingway (or 6-toed cats) the tour of his house is a good thing to do. the conch train tour is about as touristy as you can get, but you'll find out where everything is and learn a little history of key west in the process. stop by sloppy joe's, watch the sunset, relax and have a good time.

My husband doesn't like the beach or pool either, and we spent a week in Key West last year. He absolutely loved it. The only time he got out on the water is when I went parasailing. He just road in the boat.
The whole trip was incredible relaxing. However, if you're always looking to "do" something, Key West might not be the place.

Pamela,
Another thing that I love to do in KW is rent a scooter (as hundreds of other people will do as well) and just cruise around. Its a great way to see the island and convenient to stop at your favorite watering hole and not worry about trying to find a parking place. As other posters have stated KW was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had. If you want something totally different swing by the pool deck at Atlantic shores on the south end of Duval street for a drink (Thats all I will say about it). Have fun

Pamela, you say your husband is not a beach/pool person, but you didn't say what kind of things that he does like to do. I went to Key West for five days back in March and only found time to get in the pool once. As for beaches, people don't go to Key West for the beaches. there really isn't much in the way of beaches. Key West is a great place to lay back and relax. There are lots of shops along Duval Street. There are several tourist attractions (the Hemingway House, Truman's Little White House, a lighthouse museum.an aquarium, a historic fort on the Naval base ect. Things to do include the sunset at Mallory Square, the conch train tour, or maybe one of the boat tours (I've always enjoyed the sunset cruises). Loads of great restaurants (didn't have a bad meal while we were there). Mangoes is great for lunch and Alice's at La-te-da is great for dinner. When I went in March. we stayed at the Heron House, a very lovely place just a bock from Duval Street but far enough away to be away from all the noise and clutter. I really love Key West, I don't really know what more you could want out of a vacation town.
