Key West - 2 Weeks - Where to stay?
My husband and I are planning a trip to Key West in early June. We truly want to get away from everything (both finishing Masters degrees). We don't care how hot it will be. We have been to Key West before but just for a long weekend and we stayed at a B&B, which we really enjoyed. This time we are staying much longer - 2 weeks - and would like a comfortable place that is somewhat private with a kitchen and preferably a pool, a place that we could hang out at all day if we wanted to. I have been on the websites but it is hard to differentiate. Can anybody suggest a good place? Thanks for any help!

If you want something really economically, check into Casa Key West. We stayed there 2 years ago. It is sort of more in a neighborhood on the Atlantic side. They have a great pool area. There are maybe 8 rooms, so very quiet. The rooms have small kitchens & a grill to prepare food. They serve breakfast, which is included & very good. The owners are very friendly & will offer advice on restaurants, etc...

Christiane,
I may get flamed for this, and this is only a suggestion, but I'd rethink Key West for 2 weeks.
We've been 4 times and really loved it, so the last time we went for a week.
I thought we were going to have to check into the Betty Ford clinic to dry out when we got back.
You can do all the sightseeing stuff in a few days and there is nothing left to do but eat, drink and shop.
May I suggest that for the same amount of money you can go to almost any Caribbean island and have an entire culture and a zillion watersports at your disposal?
We rented a villa for two weeks on the island of Nevis with our own swimming pool overlooking the ocean in the off-season (May thru Novemeber) for $1,100 per week.
I love Key West, but for the money, give me the Caribbean...

Nancy you lush. There is more to do in KW than drink yourself into the Betty Ford Clinic. Ever thought about AA?
The above posters asked for advice on KW NOT the Carribean. Since they will both have Masters they are intelligent enough to figure out where they want to go. If they wanted Caribbean advice I am sure they would have asked for it. If you weren't such a lush Nancy you would have comprehended what they wrote....

Gee xxx, you really hurt my feelings. Sniff sniff.
I DID give the poster advice re Key West, because I have actually been there for a more extended period of time than most visitors, so I gave my impressions.
This board is all about giving OPINIONS based on EXPERIENCE.
In my OPINION, there are much nicer places to spend two weeks than Key West for the money, so I said so.
btw, where're YOUR contributions since you're obviously so knowledgeable about everything?

They didn't ASK for opinions on the Carribbean Nancy. They SPECIFICALLY asked for Key West. Reread the post. If they wanted opinions on where to go they would have asked. Why is it people here have to offer their opinions that have nothing to do with the original question. What a bunch of self-righteous idiots we have on this board.

If you have a bunch of money to spend, I also like the Ocean Key, The Galleon, and The Hyatt. However, room rates in Key West are very expensive. Even in off season you can expect to pay close to $300 per night for these hotels (300 x 14 = 4200). If money is an issue, you can rent a condo for under $1000 a week.
