OK, I'm totally new here, I live in California and all I'm trying to do is research my darn honeymoon...and I am getting REALLY F--ing sick of that stupid Grand Wailea food poisoning story...also really tired of the guy who posted everywhere about how the Orchid Mauna Lani got his room wrong SIX (COUNT EM! SIX) times. YOU ARE ANNOYING, I AM GLAD YOU GOT FOOD POISONING, YOU DESERVE IT!

Why are you pulling up such an old thread that nobody cares about? You must be an incrediby nasty person to wish food poisoning on someone. Obviously you've never had it. You know what they say about karma.....

Sorry, but I lost my temper after reading the food poisoning story for the umpteenth time while trying to research Wailea hotels.

Yes, I have had food poisoning before, btw. I got it at a McDonald's when I was 16 years old. I didn't go back to the McDonalds and demand my money back, nor did I go on a rampage against the franchise.

I agree with one of the above posters-the Ritz Carlton Kapalua is the best place to stay if you are looking for a luxury resort in a peaceful and very beautiful setting. Husband and I were there for a special trip in early December,2002. The best time to be in Maui-it was quiet, the weather was fabulous(even in Kapalua where other people have had bad experiences. It was sunny and 80's the whole time in Kapalua. One day had brief sprinkles for about 20 minutes. It was still warm and we still remained by the pool). The service at the Ritz is very attentive and friendly-they get to know you by name!It has a intimate feeling and it was mostly couples when we were there. The grounds are beautiful with golf, tennis, beautiful Kapalua beaches, excellent dining and all the amenities of a luxury resort.Kapalua has scenic walking paths around the area (very beautiful and green) and it is only 10-15 away from Kanaapali and Lahainia. The spa and the fitness centre at the Ritz are also top notch. Had a ocean front massage-heaven!! Also had Hawaiian cultural activites and yoga and walks at sunrise on the beach!! Perfect resort for a couples only holiday!

Well, all I can say is the weather was perfect when we were there and we plan on returning to the Ritz every year for our Maui vacation.I would not avoid a beautiful spot like Kapalua based on the weather.Light rain sprinkles and clouds are not the end of the world-it's still warm enough to be at the beach or the pool.Besides, the Ritz has many amenities to keep you quite busy on days where there may be rain. The posters would love the serenity of the Kapalua area.
