Kea Lani Maui, Polo Beach

Has anyone been to the Kea Lani? How is the beach there? The hotel looks very nice, but the beach looks little. How does Polo Beach compare with Wailea Beach? Would we be better off staying at the Four Season or Grand Wailea? Does the Kea Lani have beach chairs with umbrellas? Do you have to rent them? Is the water surfy or clam? Is it crowded? Do they have beach service for drinks and food?

Beth, Andrea: I am not on this site often (actually researching Key West) but let me say this about the Kea Lani:
It is simply the finest place I've seen
in Maui (Grand Wailea is nice in a different way) and has all the amenities. You will love it and I wish I could go back.

The Kea Lani is a very good hotel. We stayed there on our honeymoon 3 years ago. You get alot for your money and the rooms are all suites. The beach is nice but small. You can rent umbrellas and chairs. However there is a long beach to walk on that fronts the Four Seasons, Grand Wailea, etc. You can go in the water in front of any hotel as all beaches are public. I would recommend the hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurants are good. Service was excellent when we
were there. There is an adult pool also.

I had a similar question-see "Kea lani vs. Four Seasons in Maui. like in the guidebooks, its a split decision. some say Four Seasons, other s say go with the Fairmont. I chose the Four Seasons since the cost difference over a week is minimal, the Four Seasons slightly smaller, the FS ranked as one of the best resorts in the world, and I have never been thrilled with the few Fairmonts I've stayed at-Dallas, Scottsdale Princess. That aside, the kea lani is supposed to be a great hotel in its own right. I'm just not sure it would exceed the Four Seasons.
