Kaui and cruise

let me just say, when you cruise you miss the true hawaiian spirit. you will find that when on Kauai you won't want to leave. Kauai is by far the best of the Hawaiian islands. The best part of Kauai is getting out on the road and do some exploring. You miss it in a cruise.

Aloha Judy,
We haven't heard too many good things about the cruise lines thru the islands of late. I think one line went BK right after 9-11 and the one that is trying to pick up the slack may be giving less than desirable results.
I think the cruise line has to go all the way out to the tiny US isle of Kirubati (sp?) and turn around for some legal reasons which could put a crimp in your trip.
We watched a cruise ship from The Whaler Brew Pub try and get into Nawilwili Harbor (Kauai) but finally turned away probably due to the windy conditions ????
If you choose the cruise, I'd do a cruise first then hop a jet to Kauai to totally unwind from any possible unpleasant experience.

Judy, we're combining the two for our honeymoon. We arrive on Kauai on 4/22 and are spending 5 nights there. On 4/27 we're flying to Honolulu, spending two nights there, then on 4/29 we're boarding the Radiance of the Seas for an 11-night cruise that ends in Vancouver. We're spending two nights in Vancouver post-cruise and flying home from there on 5/12. For an extra $50 pp, RCCL changed our flights to accommodate our pre- and post-cruise stays.

Carly is 100% correct
Your wrong
I have been on 3 hawaiian cruises and i have been to all of the islands numerous times
she is correct the Hawaiian cruises are and can be fun but it is like just one big tease
While you would combine the two you can only spend a small amount of time on each island and Kauai is by far the best
So unless you like looking but not doing anything then take a cruise.
When you arrive at each island you usually have 10 or 12 hours, and that is not even close to enough time to spend on an island. the rest of the time you are at sea.
I would just suggest staying on Kauai at the Kauai marriot.
Here you can take small small shipsto good snorkeling spots
You can also experience the Waimea canyon and the Napali coast. I would suggest seeing this by boat.
So all in all a Cruise is the worst thing to do in Hawaii
