We are taking 4 teenage girls to Kauai in July for two weeks. One week in Poipu and One week in Hanalei. Does anyone have advise on hiring for surf board lessons.

We took lessons from a school in Poipu. I don't remember the name, but it was run by a woman with impressive credentials. We were very pleased, and plan to repeat this summer.

That's the Margo Oberg Surf School, at Poipu Beach. She's a seven-time women's world surfing champion.

Adding to Warren's message above, Marg Oberg is reputed to be the best, and she works out of Kiahuna Plantation Resort at 742-1750 (ask for Beach Service). On the North Shore, you have Celeste at Windsurf Kauai, at 828-6838. You'll pay about $50 for an hour and a half. Hope this helps!
