kauai photographer
Can anyone recommend a photographer, or anyone living on Kauai have a photographers eye? We are getting married and wondered if anyone would use our camera for the pics.
We have the equipement, and post processing skills.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Boovt, As luck would have it, I met a professional photographer while we were both shooting the same sunsets outside the VRBO home I was renting on the north shore. While I don't know if he'd do your wedding with your camera, it never hurts to ask. He was very, very nice. He was using a digital SLR and I appreciated the education he gave me about it and photography in general. I'm guessing he's in his 40s. He gave me his card. His name is Dana Nadeau and this is his website: www.GardenIslandPhotography.com
His email address is [email protected] His phone no. is 808-652-7411.
Good luck!
Dave

No "professional" photographer would use your camera to take your wedding photos for you. Hire a photographer who is familiar with the location, and offers a CD/DVD package. You should be able to find one easily (or ask your hotel concierge). All you get is the digital images on the CD or DVD so it should be very affordable. If he has been shooting weddings often enough, you can be assured that you will receive decent images, and still have the ability to process your own photos. Be sure to ask for a copyright release. Some photo labs might require it.

I agree with Offlady. A professional photographer isn't going to agree to use your equipment. In addition, a nature photographer, no matter how good his/her eye, is not going to give you the quality photos of an experienced wedding photographer.
Photography is the one thing that everyone thinks is the easiest to cut costs on with weddings - and it is the one thing that lasts long after the event. Take a look at the Pro Digital Talk board on the www.dpreview.com forum. Just do a search on wedding photography and you will hear and see just what your money will get you. You will also find a lot of tips on how to choose a photographer, etc.
As for the post processing, most pro photographers insist on doing it themselves - why? Because they want to control the final product to be consistent with their standards and keep their reputations intact.

Boovt - the reason the expense is in the post processing is because any photographer with quality work insists on doing their own processing.
I've heard of a lot of photographers who will provide you with an "as is" CD of their original shots, but you'll find that even with pp skills there isn't a lot you can do to save the images they took.
You may seriously consider checking that pro forum on dpreview. At the very least, they may be able to help you find a photographer in your price range. It's a huge forum with folks from all over the world.
